India owns more than 13,000 tea gardens, indulging the
workforce more than 2 million and is one of the largest producer of tea.
However, over 70% of it is consumed by Indians themselves. Commercial
production of tea in India began after the conquest of large areas by the
British East India Company. A number of renowned teas, such as, Assam and
Darjeeling, also grow exclusively in India. The rich greenery and natural
surroundings prevailing all over in East, North – East and South region of the country nourish plenty of
lush green plantation area. Darjeeling, Assam, Munnar, Nilgiri Mountains and Wayanad are the top five places to visit Indian Tea
Plantations. A tour can be taken to the tea factories.
Enormously found mountain region in Assam, Darjeeling and
Nilgiri, and its pleasant climate make these places popular, not only for tea,
but also for being a popular spot for enjoying vacation.
